Purdue Trick Play Backfires vs. Penn State
Andrew GouldOct 29, 2016
Creativity doesn't always produce results. Purdue learned that the hard way Saturday when a trick play against Penn State went nowhere.
Wide receiver Bilal Marshall fielded the snap and darted to his right. Yet he had handed the ball to wide receiver Malik Kimbrough, who was crouched behind the offensive line.
After initially playing possum, Kimbrough dashed to his left, hoping to catch the Nittany Lions by surprise. He instead was tackled at the line of scrimmage.
Despite the failed attempt at deception, the Boilermakers scored a touchdown on the drive. Penn State broke away with 45 second-half points to earn a 62-24 win.
