WWE Rumors: Buzz on Road to WWE Hell in a Cell 2016 for Week of Oct. 27

Aaron BowerOct 27, 2016

WWE Hell in a Cell is just a matter of days away, and talk is growing about what fans may encounter at this Sunday's show.

But beyond HIAC and the usual predictions online about who will win what, there are plenty of other interesting rumors and speculation doing the rounds.

This week's roundup features the latest on a surprising heel turn for one big SmackDown star, as well as the latest from NXT.

That, plus perhaps the biggest talking point as Hell in a Cell approaches, all highlight this week's rumor roundup.

When Is Shinsuke Nakamura Coming to the Main Roster?

1 of 3

It seems WWE fans will have to wait a while longer to see Shinsuke Nakamura on the main roster.

The King of Strong Style has fast become one of the pivotal members of the NXT roster since his arrival in WWE, claming the NXT Championship earlier this year from Samoa Joe.

And according to one report that has emerged this week, there are no plans to call him up to either Raw or SmackDown any time soon.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t Marc Middleton of Wrestling Inc) reports that there is no imminent call-up for Nakamura, who is being eyed up as a flagship star for the brand.

This seems like a smart move. With such a large influx of athletes heading to the main roster earlier this year, NXT needs to build some more top talent.

Guys such as Nakamura and Samoa Joe staying at Full Sail University for a while longer makes complete sense. They can become the next big stars on NXT, making their call-ups to the main roster more special.

When Will Sasha and Charlotte Go on at HIAC?

2 of 3

WWE's annual trip to hell takes place Sunday, and there are no less than three anticipated cell matches.

Whether three are too many is a different debate, but the one that is creating the most debate online is Charlotte Flair's bout with Sasha Banks.

It represents the first time two women have competed in the cell, and there's talk online already about where the match will sit on the pay-per-view card.

In fact, Bryan Alvarez at Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t Marc Middleton of LordsofPain.net) reports that it could go on either first or last.

Alvarez reported that there's a split in where the match should sit on the card. Some want it to close the show, but according to his report, there are "higher-ups" who aren't sure whether it should be the true main event.

But with the contest taking place in Sasha's hometown of Boston, the belief is that few fans, if any, will leave early if it goes on last. Similarly, if it goes on first, not many fans are going to leave after the opening contest.

It remains to be seen when the match takes place, but if it is the main event, it will be another groundbreaking step for the women's division.

Randy Orton Turning Heel, but Not with The Wyatts?

3 of 3

The most surprising moment on Tuesday's taping of SmackDown came when Randy Orton appeared to signal his intent to join The Wyatt Family.

Orton has been battling Bray Wyatt for some time now, and although the feud has had its moments, Orton joining the family would add for an intriguing twist.

However, Orton may not be joining Bray and Luke Harper after all, but he may still turn heel.

Randall Ortman of Cageside Seats writes that a heel turn is in the works for Orton, but joining The Wyatt Family may be a step too far.

This is an intriguing crossroads for Orton and his WWE career. From here, there are many options. He can join the family temporarily before turning on Bray, or he can go on the path to becoming a heel without interacting with Bray.

Orton as a heel seems to have more energy and momentum, though, so any prospective turn could be a smart move from WWE.
