Jets Need Wilkerson Healthy for Playoff Push
Wilkerson had just one tackle last week against the Cleveland Browns after missing Week 7 against the Baltimore Ravens due to his ankle, but he did manage to record a sack.
So far this season, Wilkerson has 23 tackles and 2.5 sacks on the heels of a career year in 2015 that landed him a new contract.
Aside from his ankle issues this season, Wilkerson has been able to otherwise stay healthy throughout his career. Coming into the year, the defensive lineman had only missed three games since entering the league as a first-round pick in 2011.
The 27-year-old player started 75 of his 77 games during those five seasons, accumulating 36.5 sacks in this stretch. He went to the Pro Bowl in 2015 after totaling a career-high 12 sacks, and he was twice named second-team All-Pro by the Associated Press.
While the Jets have struggled as a team in 2016, Wilkerson and Leonard Williams remain a formidable tandem on the defensive line.
