Latest on Pinson's Timeline for Return

Thursday, Nov. 10

Jon Rothstein of FanRag Sports spoke to a North Carolina spokesman who said Pinson will be out for another eight to 12 weeks as he recovers.

Williams Comments on Injury

Friday, Oct. 21

North Carolina head coach Roy Williams expressed his disappointment about Pinson's injury in the announcement, shared by Bret Strelow of the Winston-Salem Journal:

"

I'm so disappointed for Theo. Number one, he's been playing well and he does so many positive things for our team. Theo's our energy guy, he defends, he's our best passer, a threat on the offensive boards, he can play four different positions, and he gives our team personality, and I mean that in a good way. Hopefully we can get him back before the end of the season, but we have not met with all the medical personnel yet so there is no timetable for when he can play again.

"

Tar Heels Will Miss Pinson's Versatility

The Tar Heels are often loaded with elite recruits who show up all the time on highlight videos. Pinson did not post gaudy numbers for North Carolina in his first two seasons, but he does a little bit of everything. He averaged 4.5 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game last year.

North Carolina starts the season ranked sixth in the USA Today men's basketball coaches poll. There are already high expectations for the program, and losing a high-energy athlete like Pinson will force Williams to adjust his players' roles before the season begins on Nov. 11.
