Vick ran into legal trouble in April when he was arrested in Newport News on charges of assault on a police officer and resisting arrest. TMZ Sports provided a video of the incident:

In July, he pleaded guilty to resisting arrest and received a 12-month jail sentence, with 11 of the months suspended. Charges for assault and obstruction of justice were both dropped in the case.

The Virginia Tech Hokies dismissed Vick during his junior year in January 2006 for what the Associated Press (via ESPN.com) described as "numerous legal transgressions and his unsportsmanlike conduct in the Toyota Gator Bowl."

After he went undrafted, the Dolphins signed Vick in May 2006. He appeared in one game for the team, a 13-10 defeat to the New York Jets on Dec. 25, 2006.
