Chris Leak's Accuser for Alleged Sexual Misconduct Decides Not to Press Charges

Former Florida Gators and Chicago Bears quarterback Chris Leak was under investigation for the alleged sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl in Orlando, Florida.

David Harris of the Orlando Sentinel relayed the information from Orlando police on Oct. 5. On Monday, Harris noted that Orlando police announced the accuser won't press charges against Leak:

"

The girl and her guardian decided last week not to pursue the matter, police said. She reported the incident early this month to a school resource officer.

Leak's Tallahassee-based attorney, Tim Jansen, said his client was "relieved but not surprised."

Jansen said the allegations against Leak were false.

"From the get-go, he adamantly denied the allegation," said Jansen.

Leak, 31, had not been charged. The allegations stem from a Sept. 5 incident at Edgewater High School, where Leak was serving as the head football coach. He resigned on Oct. 3 after an 0-5 start to his tenure, though he didn't give a reason at the time.

"Leak loves his players and for the best interest of the team, he didn't want this to be a distraction from an already tough season," Jansen said, per Harris. "Leak is unsure about what he'll do next, according to Jansen."

According to the police report, the unnamed girl discussed an inappropriate massage she gave at the request of Leak. She said Leak requested the massage and then came out of a shower wearing only a towel. He later allegedly placed her hands on his genitals, which she said she "grazed" a few times during the incident.

Per the report, after Leak became aware that the victim told a friend about the incident, he allegedly gave the friend $100.

Edgewater athletic director Janet Rasmussen has not provided a comment on the matter, while the state attorney's office has not received any information regarding a potential prosecution.

Leak was in his first season serving as the high school's head coach after working at Florida under former head coach Will Muschamp and then working with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He retired from his playing career after the 2012 season.
