K.J. Hamler to Penn State: Nittany Lions Land 4-Star WR Prospect

Rob GoldbergDec 9, 2016

Wide receiver K.J. Hamler will play his college ball at Penn State, giving the team one of the most dynamic players in the 2017 class.

The 4-star player announced his decision Friday with a video posted to his official Twitter account:

According to Scout, Hamler is the No. 52 receiver in the class and the No. 244 player overall, although that tells only part of the story. While he is undersized at just 5'9", 155 pounds, his 4.43-second time in the 40-yard dash shows how he can overcome his physical limitations.

Hamler is a game-changing player with the ball in his hands, capable of scoring from anywhere on the field. Not only does he have good top-end speed, but his quickness in short areas is almost unmatched in this class.

This punt return showed the shiftiness in his arsenal:

Although he will never become a true No. 1 target in an offense, he could be a valuable player if used correctly.

The biggest concern is a knee injury suffered at the start of Hamler's senior season. He tore his ACL in August, which could slow his development over the next year. However, his upside remains as high as ever thanks to his pure ability on the field.

Hamler, who narrowed his college choices down to five in September, represents a solid fit for Penn State and will likely make a positive impact before too long.
