Ousmane Dembele Signed for Dortmund After Reported Bayern Munich Agent Mistake
German champions Bayern Munich reportedly lost out to rivals Borussia Dortmund in the race to sign Ousmane Dembele in the summer in part because they dealt with the wrong agent.
BVB bagged the highly rated young Frenchman from Rennes in May, signing him up to a five-year contract following a breakout Ligue 1 season in which the teenager netted 12 goals and provided five assists in 26 appearances, per WhoScored.com.
However, he could reportedly have ended up at the Allianz Arena rather than Westfalenstadion had it not been for an elementary error from Bayern technical director Michael Reschke.

According to Sport Bild (via Goal), Bayern began negotiating for Dembele in late 2015—the same time as Dortmund—but Reschke opened talks with Badou Sambague, the youngster's former agent, rather than his current representative Marco Kirdemir.
As mistakes go, it could prove costly. Per football writer Tancredi Palmeri, the 19-year-old forward is one of the most exciting talents in Europe:
He has already netted once and provided two assists in the Bundesliga this term.
If he proves to be instrumental in Dortmund wresting the German title off Bayern in the upcoming seasons, Reschke will have a lot to answer for.
