Washington Huskies vs. Oregon Ducks Betting Odds, College Football Pick
Oregon holds a firm upper hand in the recent rivalry with Washington, winning the last 12 meetings in a row and going 11-0-1 against the spread. But the oddsmakers give the Huskies a good chance of snapping that streak when they battle the Ducks for the 109th time Saturday night in Eugene.
Point spread: The Huskies opened as 6.5-point favorites, according to sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark (line updates and matchup report).
College football pick, via Odds Shark computer: 46.8-33.2 Huskies (College football picks on every game)
Why the Washington Huskies can cover the spread
Washington is off to its first 5-0 start since 1992 after stuffing Stanford last week 44-6. The Huskies scored touchdowns on their first two possessions of the game, led 23-0 at the half, pushed that to 30-0 early in the third quarter and cruised home from there for an easy cover as four-point favorites.
On the night, Washington outgained Stanford 424-213 and outrushed the Cardinal 214-29. Quarterback Jake Browning led the way, hitting on 15 of 21 throws for 210 yards and three touchdowns without an interception, while running back Myles Gaskin ran the ball 18 times for 100 yards and two scores. Meanwhile, the Huskies defense limited Stanford spark plug Christian McCaffrey to just 79 yards from scrimmage and recorded eight sacks.
Stretching back to last season, Washington now owns an eight-game winning streak, going 6-2 ATS in the process.
Why the Oregon Ducks can cover the spread
Oregon started 2-0 this season, but it has lost three straight after falling at Washington State last week 51-33. The Ducks traded touchdowns with the Cougars to a 14-14 tie, fell down by two scores, only trailed by 10 through three quarters but couldn't mount a comeback from there.
Oregon let a couple of scoring opportunities slip away, turning the ball over on downs and on a pick both in Washington territory, and the Ducks suffered a sack/safety. A couple of plays here and there, and they might have stayed in that game.
Two weeks ago, the Ducks rallied from 16 points down against Colorado to take a lead, but they lost by a field goal. And three weeks ago, they led at Nebraska late into the game before also losing by a field goal. If they could just get some help from their defense, they could turn this thing around.
Smart pick
Washington is coming off a big, emotional victory at home, and it could be a candidate for a letdown. But Oregon's defense just can't stop anybody. Besides, it's about time the Huskies ended the Ducks' dominance in this rivalry. The smart wager in this spot looks like Washington.
