Welcome to Suplex City
Fans got their first look at the WWE 2K17 commercial during the Clash of Champions pay-per-view broadcast, but it was during Raw and SmackDown this week that it got its greatest exposure.
As has been the case for years, the commercial was outstanding, blending the wild world of professional wrestling with a certain artistry that makes each spot stick out.
This year, cameras took audiences through the wasteland that is Suplex City and shined a spotlight on the top Superstars on the roster.
Of note is that Alberto Del Rio, who is no longer with the company, suggested that WWE had faith he would re-sign with the promotion.
Brock Lesnar is featured prominently, and appropriately so, given his status as the cover athlete of this year's game.
Create A Wrestler Update
One of the most fun elements of any WWE game is the player's ability to create a Superstar. In the 2017 edition of the game, fans will have the opportunity to mold up to 100 new wrestlers, thanks to an expanded number of slots.
This is great news for fans who like to mix and match their episodes of Raw and SmackDown with current stars, legends and those from their own imaginations.
The official WWE 2K17 Twitter account later gave fans a look at just one such Superstar they could create for battle with Curtis Axel on Superstars or Jack Swagger on Main Event:
After all, how many times can you book John Cena to go over Kevin Owens before it is time to introduce more new blood to sacrifice to the franchise star?
Gameplay Previews
Also this week, Twitter and YouTube user Tubby Emu released numerous matches featuring some of the fresh faces in this year's game. Re-tweeted by WWE 2K17's official account, lending credibility and legitimacy to them, the videos include the first look at NXT stars The Revival and SmackDown Live tandem American Alpha.
They also revisit one of the summer's hottest feuds, AJ Styles vs. John Cena, providing fans the first opportunity to check out the current WWE champion in game form.
Finally, he also previewed NXT Edition-exclusive competitor Shinsuke Nakamura, pairing him up against injured Raw star Finn Balor in singles competition.
The entrances look as authentic as ever, and the gameplay is as smooth as it has ever been. The inclusion of Nakamura and Styles is bound to keep diehard wrestling fans happy, while the expansive NXT roster is a welcome improvement over last year's smaller selection.
Emma Reacts
Finally, Emma got the first look at her character from WWE 2K17 and took to Twitter to praise the producers for her likeness:
Come release day, it is safe to say many other Superstars will be touting the realism of the game and the close proximity to their real likenesses.
