Donte Whitner Reportedly Signs 1-Year Contract with Redskins
Veteran safety Donte Whitner spent the beginning of the 2016 NFL season searching for a new home after 10 seasons with three different teams before reportedly landing with the Washington Redskins.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported the agreement on Wednesday after noting Whitner worked out for the team on Tuesday.
Whitner had seen some interest in the early going this season, revealing yesterday that he received offers from the Los Angeles Rams and Carolina Panthers.

Whitner worked out for the Los Angeles Rams shortly after hitting the free-agent market in April.
According to a report from Rapoport on Sept. 30, the New York Giants also worked out Whitner as they looked to add some depth to their secondary.
The 31-year-old has recorded 11 career interceptions, snagging at least one in eight of 10 seasons, and he was selected to three Pro Bowls between 2012 and 2014.
Two of those came with the Buffalo Bills, and the most recent was with the Cleveland Browns. But Whitner only spent two seasons in Cleveland before being released in April in an attempt to clear cap space.
According to Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot, he was expected to make $6.2 million and $6.3 million in 2016 and 2017, respectively.
