Napoleon Harris Helps Police Catch Murder Suspects After Mugging
Napoleon Harris is a Democratic State Senator in Illinois, former NFL linebacker and owner of two pizza franchises who was just trying to make a delivery earlier in September. Instead, he ended up fighting off muggers and playing a significant role in the capture of three murder suspects.
According to CBS Chicago, the 6’3”, 250-pound Harris owns two Beggars Pizza franchises near Chicago and was looking to give his crew a break by making a delivery himself. Harris’ spokesman, Sean Howard, said the order was not real and instead used to set up a mugging, and four men attacked the former linebacker at a vacant house.

Harris—who Howard said “wasn’t the average 5’9” delivery guy,” per CBS Chicago—fought off the muggers and tailed their truck as he called 911.
CBS Chicago noted investigators found blood in the truck after it was abandoned, which was traced back to a missing man from Georgia who was found dead. That evidence, along with Harris’ descriptions, helped police eventually arrest the three murder suspects in Georgia.
Before becoming a politician, pizza franchise owner and apparent crime fighter, Harris played for the Oakland Raiders from 2002-04, the Minnesota Vikings from 2005-06 and again in 2008, and the Kansas City Chiefs in 2007.
He appeared in 100 career games and notched 481 combined tackles, 8.5 sacks, five forced fumbles and four interceptions.
