Is Tennessee's Failure At Football This Year All George Bush's Fault?

Not to confuse a sports story with a political one, but I see amazing similarities in the current administrations in the White House and the Tennessee Volunteer Athletic office. When in doubt, blame whatever problem you have on the previous administration.

On one hand you brag about all the new talent you bring in, and on the other hand you lose to teams worse than the previous year's version.

Doesn't more talent and a better coaching staff equal better results? Well apparently not in Knoxville.

But the sun was in our eyes, the other teams are just fantastically improved, Fulmer left the cupboard bare and on and on and on...

But wait, Fulmer left the cupboard bare? I thought he left behind Eric Berry, Hardesty, and so many other great players. And didn't he leave behind one of the nation's best defenses? That hardly seems bare.

And wasn't Kiffin supposed to be the guy who could make any offense a juggernaught? Wasn't he the one taking credit for mentoring all the great USC quarterbacks?

To listen to Kiffin's version, that offense wouldn't have been effective without his strong hand guiding it.

However the Vols are an embarrassing 2-3 with their only wins being over pitiful, out of conference cupcakes. With another one on the schedule in Memphis, this will leave the Vols hoping to beat Mississippi State, Vanderbilt and Kentucky just to better Phillip Fulmer's last record of 5-7.

And it doesn't look promising.

This was supposed to an upgrade, but this boy isn't even out of head coaching puberty yet.

Somewhere Phillip Fulmer is enjoying his millions and smiling. Soon even the most ardent fans may be longing for the security that Fulmer brought to the Vols and that maybe they should have given the Dean of SEC coaching one more season to right the wrongs.

When they look at Kiffin now, one must wonder if they've realized two wrongs don't make a right.
