Do We Not Deserve Better?

After an embarrassing loss and getting booed at home against the arch-rival Denver Broncos, I actually had hope this week for my Oakland Raiders. I mean it's not like the Houston Texans defense were in any top ranking category in the NFL right? How could any fan not be optimistic when the trio of Fargas, Bush, and McFadden were revving up to carve up a bottom of the barrel ranking group of defenders? Boy was I wrong!!

It just blows my mind to look at what kind of talent the Oakland Raiders possess in their stable and just get demoralized time and time again. Even when they managed to win in K.C. it felt like a loss to me after witnessing all the sloppy play calling and execution. I don't think Oakland has had as many three and outs since the 2006 season..(Art Shell's second stint) as they have this season. My fellow fans it is just frustrating...plain and simple. Never have I felt so optimistic about beginning a new season after seeing what Al Davis has brought in to "help" our team, yet it just doesn't work. I don't know what goes on behind the scenes at headquarters, but how can a team with the motto "Commitment to Excellence" tolerate such trashy performances? Better yet how can the fan base be so blind and loyal to the product on the field? Does Al Davis really care about his once proud team any more?

The reason I ask is because all along I've read numerous reports and claims about how "crazy" Al is and how he still insists on running the team in a certain manner. Sorry to say, but I can't help but start to see the some logic in these anti-Raider reports. I mean really, how qualified is Tom Cable as a play caller??? This guy is a freaking line coach!!

Even I can see that McFadden excels in open space, yet he get called upon to run between the tackles over and over. I also don't believe any team has ever operated successfully using two rookie wide outs like the Raiders currently do. Where is Javon Walker? I mean wow $16 million in two years to sit on the bench? Wasn't it crazy Al who convinced Walker to stay? I mean he runs the team with an iron fist yet can't seem to force Cable to start a favorite of his! It's become glaringly obvious that Russell needs the help.

As much as I would want to, I can't blame Jamarcus too much for the offensive woes. Sure he could be more accurate and put a softer touch on the passes, but there were way too many dropped passes and sloppy routes being run by his receivers. Mr Cable needs to leave the play calling to Ted Tollner and Paul Hackett, at least they are qualified and have better resumes.

Why does the defense stay committed to NOT pressuring the quarterback?? The Raiders defense gets carved up constantly underneath as well so what are the line backers doing? We all know Nnamdi and now Johnson can cover, so why not force some passes from opposing QB's? You know make em throw it up. 

Like I said I am not claiming to be a pro or aware of what goes on in Oakland, but things have got to change!! I for one would LOVE to see an empty stadium waiting for Al Davis in two weeks. Maybe that would send a direct message from the the Raider Nation to Mr. Raider himself to improve the product that we constantly pay to see. I mean don't you like getting what you pay for at the store? Why should the Oakland Raider be any different? I own all the jerseys of Raider greats, hats, shirts, flags.... I even paid for a Raider tattoo!

I have been a fan for all the 29 years I have breathed that Autumn Wind, I'm sure there are many fans that have me beat by many more years. I will never root or cheer on any other team in the NFL, I would rather not watch football. My point is simply this, do we as loyal fans deserve what Al Davis is giving us?

I strongly believe now that things will continue to stay the same, as long as Al Davis runs the team. He clearly lied to us in our face when he claimed he was going to hire a general manager this off season. I also think he is lying when he claimed "We will win again"....c'mon man, I like a steak when I order it, all he gives my is a pile of crap.

My fellow nation I am full. I will no longer pay for Raider memorabilia or attend any games. After all it only benefits the man upstairs(you know what I mean). I can't tell you to do the same, but I think the Raider fan base deserve better. I hope you agree that we are worth more as well. One love.
