Saints WR Brandin Cooks Torches Raiders Defense for 98-Yard TD
Kyle NewportSep 11, 2016
This just in: New Orleans Saints receiver Brandin Cooks is fast.
Really, really fast.
Midway through the third quarter of Sunday's season opener against the Oakland Raiders, Cooks showed off his wheels by blowing past cornerback Sean Smith and leaving him in the dust. On 1st-and-10 from the New Orleans 2-yard line, Saints quarterback Drew Brees hit Cooks in stride—and he was gone.
Smith and safety Reggie Nelson attempted to catch the speedy wideout, but they had no chance. Touchdown, Saints.
Pretty much.
According to ESPN and SportsCenter, the 98-yard touchdown made some history:
The big play and ensuing PAT gave the Saints a 24-10 lead.
