Wawrinka vs. Nishikori: Score, Highlights from US Open Semifinals 2016

Kevin McRaeSep 9, 2016

No. 3 seed Stan Wawrinka defeated No. 6 Kei Nishikori 4-6, 7-5, 6-4, 6-2, on Friday night in the second men's semifinal at the U.S. Open to advance to Sunday afternoon's final at Flushing Meadows.

Wawrinka will face No. 1 seed Novak Djokovic in an attempt to capture the third Grand Slam title of his career after winning Friday's war of attrition.

Nishikori captured the first set in 30 minutes after securing an early break. He seemed to be locked in, particularly on his serve, but began to fade a bit in the steamy conditions. As the match wore on, it was the Swiss player's superior conditioning that became the deciding factor.
