WWE NXT Results: Biggest Winners, Losers and Moments from September 7

Erik BeastonSep 8, 2016

Austin Aries' initial few months in NXT were anything but stellar, marred by mediocre in-ring performances and lackluster creative direction.

The Greatest Man Who Ever Lived has rebounded considerably over the past few weeks, rediscovering the tenacity and viciousness that sets him apart from his peers. No Way Jose was the first unfortunate soul to encounter a rejuvenated Aries, and on Wednesday night Andrade Almas found himself next in line.

Aries was brilliant, countering everything the flashy Almas threw his way en route to a submission victory courtesy of The Last Chancery.

Now eyeballing a feud with Hideo Itami, Aries has the opportunity to emerge as one of the faces of an NXT brand in desperate need of them.

Winner: TM61

Nick Miller and Shane Thorne scored another impressive victory Wednesday night, defeating Ariya Daivari and Tony Nese. In doing so, they continued building momentum in a crowded tag team division.

Flashy and dynamic, they embody the spirit of NXT in every one of their performances.

Wednesday night's performance was enough to garner the duo "winner" status, but going forward, TM61 must experience some sort of upward mobility to avoid falling into a holding pattern from which even the most talented teams struggle to escape.

Loser: Andrade Almas

Almas is a talented wrestler, as seen in his performances against Bobby Roode and Aries, but his blandness has proved an insurmountable mountain for the former masked luchador to climb.

His lack of character, coupled with more intriguing heel opposition, has doomed him to uninspiring results to this point.

Almas is in desperate need of a reboot. He needs a makeover and the return of his mask in the worst way. If not, expect him to become one of the biggest missed opportunities in recent NXT history.

Winner: Ember Moon

Newcomer Ember Moon continued to impress Wednesday night with a victory over Leah Vaughn.

A fierce performer whose finisher ranks among the most sensational in the sport, she has the opportunity to become the face of women's wrestling in NXT if she continues to develop and management evolves her character to the point where fans invest in her.

If that happens, expect to see some extraordinary contests from her and Asuka in the near future.
