Allen Robinson, Marqise Lee's Fantasy Outlook after Allen Hurns' Injury

Joseph ZuckerNov 6, 2016

The Jacksonville Jaguars are down one of their best aerial targets after Allen Hurns suffered a concussion Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs, according to John Oehser of the Jaguars' official site.

It's now up to Allen Robinson and Marqise Lee to pick up the slack and help quarterback Blake Bortles. Below is a brief analysis for how Hurns' injury impacts Robinson's and Lee's respective fantasy values.

The Jaguars offense has been a big disappointment this year, and as a result, Robinson's value has fallen significantly from where it was in 2015, when he caught 80 passes for 1,400 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Through seven games in 2016, he has 32 receptions for 366 yards and three touchdowns.

Fantasy owners have been burned enough this season by the third-year wideout that they won't be too optimistic about Hurns' absence bringing any sort of tangible benefit to Robinson.

With fewer options available in the passing game, Bortles is likely to rely on Robinson more, though. Owners shouldn't expect his numbers to return to their 2015 equivalents, but he's at least worth starting as a flex option.

Likewise, Lee should see a minor bump to his production. His overall outlook won't change radically, however.

Since Jacksonville selected him in the second round of the 2014 draft, Lee hasn't quite hit the heights expected of him. Injuries limited him in both of his first two seasons, and Hurns' emergence last year pushed him further down the pecking order. Lee caught just 15 passes for 191 yards and a touchdown in 2015.

This season represents an improvement—30 receptions and 358 yards—but not a huge step forward.

The 24-year-old could be a nice addition for owners looking to add depth at wideout. Until he proves otherwise, though, he should remain on your bench.
