Cole Custer Tackles John Hunter Nemechek After NASCAR Truck Series Race
John Hunter Nemechek won Sunday’s NASCAR Truck Series race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, but it was far from a conventional finish.
In fact, it looked like something out of an amusement-park bumper-car race.
Custer was ahead during the final stretch, but Nemechek pushed him into the fence before they both crossed the finish line off the track, as Fox Sports 1 shared:
According to Joe Rodgers of Sporting News, Custer led 39 laps before the dramatic ending. He was not pleased with missing out on the opportunity to close with a victory and took out his frustrations accordingly, via Fox Sports: NASCAR:
“Rubbin’ is racin’,” Nemechek said in Victory Lane, per Rodgers.
Nemechek beat Custer by 0.034 seconds, while Daniel Hemric came in third. As Lee Baile of NASCAR.com noted, the official leaderboard at the track momentarily displayed Hemric as the winner before officials reviewed the ending.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. summed up the ordeal:
