With Smash Limited and Dash Out Against Denver, It Is Up To You Tash

Andrew WenkOct 4, 2009

First of all, let me say that I hate how people try to get cute with naming running back tandems. I mean here I am thinking the Giant's Earth, Wind, Fire, and Water was bad when the Cowboys over the offseason name their tandem Smash, Dash, and Tash.

Sorry. Rant over.

So here we are in week 4, and the doom and gloom crowd in Cowboy Nation are predicting Denver to show they are not overrated by wiping the floor with Dallas. Whether it is because Tony Romo "sucks", Wade Phillips is "soft", or because Felix is "injury prone". They all have something different to say.

No matter how many times Romo proves the naysayers wrong they will always be there reminding us how he has not won a "big game" in his short career yet, and I'm willing to put money down that if Wade coaches this team to the Super Bowl and wins the franchise ring number 6, there will always be people talking about Camp Cupcake.

There is one reason these negative "fans" can calm down. Sure, Felix Jones is out, and Marion the Barbarian could be hampered some by his injury. Still you don't need to worry. Ladies and gentlemen, in case you are forgetting we do have a stud running back named Tashard Choice.

Before dismissing him because he is the 3rd string back, Tashard has put up impressive numbers when he has gotten the opportunity to carry the rock. While starting three games last season against the Steelers, Giants, and Ravens (all having top 5 defenses) Choice finished the season with 92 attempts, 472 yards, 2 tds, and a 5.1 avg each time the ball was handed to him.

How is he doing this year?

Fantastic.

In 3 games, Choice has carried the rock 22 times for 100 yards. That averages to 4.5 yards per carry. 82 of his yards have come in just one game when Dallas beat Carolina on Monday Night Football 21-7.

When Jason Garrett decides to utilize Choice he does nothing but get positive results, and I don't see why Garrett would feel anything but comfortable with using him for at least 15+ carries in Denver if Barber is able to play.

So Tash, this Sunday you get to prove to Cowboy fans why some of us have so much faith in you. No one is placing the 2nd year back in Canton, but to deny his ability is foolish.

Look for Choice to put up at least 75 yards on Sunday if given the carries, and if you aren't already, allow him to give you a reason to be Pro Choice.
