Cloud9 Acquires Vainglory Team Nemesis Hydra
Cloud9, one of North America's leading eSports organizations, has thrown its hat into the Vainglory ring, with its acquisition of Nemesis Hydra. With this, Cloud9 gets the only team in North American Vainglory history to make the semifinals/grand finals day of every seasonal championship to date.
Cloud9 joins a long list of professional organizations to enter the competitive Vainglory scene, including Team SoloMid, Team Secret, mousesports, G2 Esports and SK Gaming.
Cloud9 general manager Danan Flander saw what these other organizations saw in the young game: “It’s incredible to see how far Vainglory eSports have grown in just a year, and we knew we wanted to be part of this exciting evolution in eSports."
Nemesis Hydra will be competing as Cloud9 for the first time at the summer championships in Seattle this weekend, Sept. 2 to 4. Led by Hardek, the team's captain, along with iLoveJoseph and LostBoyToph, Nemesis Hydra is one of the oldest organizations in competitive Vainglory.
The summer championships will be Cloud9's first chance to compete for a slot at the first-ever Vainglory World Championship in December. You can watch all the weekend's action on Vainglory's Twitch channel.
