Warning: NSFW language.
Bernard Tomic had some harsh words for a heckling fan during his first-round U.S. Open loss to Damir Dzumhur on Tuesday.
On-court microphones picked up some of the exchange, which included the Australian telling the fan: "I will put my balls in your mouth" and "Suck my balls."
Tomic's comments seemed to catch his opponent by surprise:
Player and fan continued to go back and forth in between sets, and the umpire eventually questioned Tomic about it.
"Oh no, he was just saying some s--t," Tomic could be heard saying:
According to Tyson Otto of news.com.au, this all took place during the first set, which Tomic lost 6-4. The fan was asked to leave afterward.
"He definitely baited me the whole set for me to say that, but I do apologize," Tomic said, per Otto. "I apologized [for] what I said to him. He definitely baited me the whole set for me to say that. But I do apologize."
