The cast for Season 23 of Dancing with the Stars was officially revealed Tuesday, and it has an athletic flavor led by former Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson and Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte.

According to ABC7.com, Olympic gymnast Laurie Hernandez and IndyCar driver James Hinchcliffe will join the show as well.

Lochte is a 12-time Olympic medalist, but he was charged with falsely reporting a crime by Brazilian authorities for an incident that occurred during the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

According to ABC7.com, Lochte is excited to put the controversy behind him. "I just want to move forward. I want the whole world to move forward. Put on my dancing shoes," he said.

Elsewhere on the athlete front, Johnson is a six-time Pro Bowler who retired this offseason after nine NFL campaigns. The 30-year-old is a potential Hall of Famer, but first he will focus on hoisting the DWTS trophy.

Hernandez was a breakout star in Rio, as she was part of the "Final Five" United States women's gymnastics team that took gold. The 16-year-old also won a silver medal in the balance beam.

Hinchcliffe is a 29-year-old native of Canada with four career IndyCar victories. He is among the most inspirational DWTS cast members, as he missed the 2015 season because of injuries suffered during Indy 500 practice but returned to action this year.

Athletes have enjoyed a great deal of success on Dancing with the Stars over the years, with running back Emmitt Smith, speed skater Apolo Anton Ohno, IndyCar driver Helio Castroneves, figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi, gymnast Shawn Johnson, wide receiver Hines Ward, wide receiver Donald Driver and ice dancer Meryl Davis having all won the competition.

With another strong crop of athletes in place for this season, that exclusive group could grow.
