Chambers took to Twitter to express his excitement over the move:
The 21-year-old joined Arsenal in 2014 from Southampton in a deal potentially worth up to £16 million and has made 59 appearances for the Gunners thus far.
He only made 12 in the Premier League last season, with just two being starts, though, and with Rob Holding and Shkodran Mustafi arriving this summer, he'd have struggled for minutes even more had he remained at the Emirates Stadium this season.
According to James Whaling of the Daily Mirror, Mustafi will complete his move before the end of the transfer window.
Here are some of the stats Chambers put down from his limited game time, per Squawka:
| Apps | 12 |
| Tackles | 8 |
| Aerial Duels | 13 |
| Interceptions | 10 |
| Clearances | 22 |
| Passing Accuracy | 83% |
Capable of playing at right-back, centre-back or as a holding midfielder, Chambers' versatility should come in handy for Boro as they fight to survive in the Premier League.
If he's to have a long-term future at Arsenal and reach the potential that prompted his sensational transfer to the Gunners, he needs a big year.
At Middlesbrough, he should have the opportunity to do that, but to salvage his Arsenal career he'll need to take it.
