Chelsea Transfer News: Latest Marcelo Brozovic and Gabriel Barbosa Rumours

Marcelo Brozovic’s agent, Miroslav Bicanic, has confirmed that Chelsea are among the clubs chasing his client’s signature.

The midfielder only joined Inter Milan permanently earlier this year, yet the club are reportedly happy to let him depart if they receive the right offer.

Antonio Conte’s Blues are said to be one of the big European sides hoping to secure his services, according to Bicanic.

Per Croatian outlet Index (h/t Football Italia, via Charlie Phillippe of the Daily Express), Bicanic said: "It’s true, there are many options and we are talking about some big European clubs. I heard that Chelsea representatives are in Milan and that Arsenal are also prepared to sign him. Inter are pushing to sell to one of these two clubs who are prepared to pay a sum that satisfies all concerned."

Brozovic has been labelled the "Croatian Xavi" during his career, and it’s safe to say he’s worthy of such a tag.

Although not an outright creative midfielder, he possesses the ability pick out a defence-splitting pass after picking the ball up from deep. He’s similar to Cesc Fabregas in that regard, yet he never forgets his defensive responsibilities.

Italian outlet La Gazetta dello Sport reported that Inter want £25 million for the midfielder (via Liam Spence of the Daily Express), which could price some of Chelsea’s rivals out of the sale.

However, Conte has warned Chelsea fans that getting deals over the line before the end of the transfer window could be difficult.

As per James Benge of the London Evening Standard, the Blues boss said he hopes to bring some new faces to Stamford Bridge, but it won’t be easy: "With this market, it’s very difficult to believe in something. I have some targets. These targets will be very difficult to buy. [By the end of the window] I hope to have some more players than now."

One player Chelsea won’t be getting before the end of the month is striker Gabriel Barbosa.

Chelsea targeted the 19-year-old earlier in the window, per Benge, but Inter Milan have seemingly beat the Blues to his signature.

Chelsea haven’t started the 2016/17 campaign in particularly impressive fashion, yet two wins out of two speaks for itself.

Even so, the Blues need reinforcements if they’re to fight for silverware on three fronts this season. Conte is set for a busy week.
