Hull City vs. Manchester United: Jose Mourinho's Key Pre-Match Presser Quotes

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has made it clear that Bastian Schweinsteiger does not feature in his plans and expressed surprise that Bayern Munich have not made an attempt to re-sign him.

Mourinho spoke to the media prior to Saturday's trip to Hull City and was asked about whether the German would play for United again, per Rob Pollard and Rob Dawson for the Mirror:

I cannot answer for him. It’s his life, his career, he has a contract with Man United. He has a right to make that decision and stay, so that’s not a problem for us.

Football is made of decisions. I did that all my career. Not just me, everyone does, but some players react in a different way.

To be honest, Bastian is not speaking a lot. He gave his last statement, which he is completely free to make, in an objective way, like he did.

I thought, when I read some quotes from people at Bayern Munich, they would run to Manchester to bring him back, but no, that didn’t happen. I’m quite surprised [Bayern chief executive] Karl-Heinze Rummennigge is not here to take him back.

Earlier in August, Rummenigge condemned United's treatment of the 32-year-old, as has Bayern 'keeper Manuel Neuer.

When asked about any transfer activity for the remainder of the window, Mourinho explained he does not plan on recruiting any more players this summer, per the Red Devils:

The Red Devils should have a strong chance of progressing despite the inclusion of the Turkish and Dutch sides—if they approach it seriously, they have to be considered among the favourites to win it.

The trio each sit on six points after two wins apiece from the first two games. Hull have also claimed maximum points against the odds, so United will need to be cautious when approaching them on Saturday.

If the Red Devils can replicate their performances from the first two matches of the season, though, they should be able to maintain their 100 per cent record.
