Manchester City Transfer News: Latest Joe Hart and Jason Denayer Rumours

Tom SunderlandAug 22, 2016

Everton remain the bookmakers' favourites to seal a move for Manchester City misfit Joe Hart if he leaves the Etihad Stadium this summer. Meanwhile, manager Pep Guardiola has advised Jason Denayer against a loan move to Galatasaray.

The Daily Star's Jack Wilson provided quotes from BetStars spokesman Ian Marmion, who said the Toffees are in pole position to complete a deal for Hart after he's fallen afoul of Guardiola:

"

The Joe Hart saga continues to rumble on but the market movement at the weekend seems to suggest a move to Everton is imminent.

The Toffees are now clear odds-on favourite at 4/9 to sign Hart, with Spanish club Sevilla drifting dramatically to 4/1 having been odds on last week, whilst Merseyside rivals Liverpool are at 5/1. We’re calling it - expect to see Joe Hart in an Everton shirt by the time the window closes.

It's anticipated Hart will head for the Etihad exit if City manage to recruit Barcelona goalkeeper Claudio Bravo, and Sky Sports reported the Chilean is expected in Manchester to complete the move this Thursday.

It's believed Hart doesn't possess the technical footballing ability Guardiola desires in a first-choice stopper, but England manager Sam Allardyce told Sky Sports News he'll be in the national-team squad:

Everton have already recruited Dutch goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg this summer after Tim Howard moved back to the United States, but Hart would present an upgrade on the Netherlands international.

Despite a couple of forgettable moments with England at the 2016 European Championship this summer, BBC Radio 5 live pundit Robbie Savage has said Hart isn't deserving of the criticism he's received of late:

Willy Caballero has started in both of Manchester City's Premier League outings this season, and with speculation of a move for Bravo growing, it seems Hart's time at the club is drawing to a close.

That being said, the supporters at the Etihad seemingly don't want their England international stopper to leave, per Oliver Kay of the Times:

Elsewhere, Guardiola has reportedly told Denayer to shun a second successive loan spell with Turkish giants Galatasaray amid fears his defender could regress in the Super Lig.

Sport Witness sourced Turkish website Sporx, which is said to have obtained quotes from Guardiola, who told Denayer: "Move to Turkey? I’ve doubts about it. You can’t progress well in Turkey and could even go backwards there. The football played in Turkey is not suitable for you to progress.”

Gala aren't the only club understood to be keeping tabs on Denayer's situation, either, according to Kristof Terreur of Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws:

Denayer, 21, made 28 appearances for the Turkish outfit while on loan in Istanbul last season, earning his way into the Belgium squad that travelled to Euro 2016.

A centre-back who can also function on the right side of defence, Denayer is yet to make his senior debut for City, although his first-team prospects look likely to be limited—at least for the time being.
