Manchester United Transfer News: Bastian Schweinsteiger, Tyler Blackett Rumours
Manchester United are reportedly close to ousting misfit midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger from the club after severance talks got under way. Meanwhile, Tyler Blackett is on the brink of joining Reading on permanent terms.
The Daily Star Sunday's Paul Hetherington reported United are in talks with Schweinsteiger as they attempt to help the playmaker out the Old Trafford exit without having to pay the remaining £17 million on his contract.

The former Germany international has two years remaining on his deal with the Red Devils, and it's believed United will accept a fee of as little as £2 million for the 32-year-old.
Schweinsteiger has been sidelined by manager Jose Mourinho since the Portuguese arrived at the Old Trafford helm, and he posted a tweet from the stands as his team-mates made their 2016-17 home debut on Friday:
Mourinho doesn't look likely to utilise the veteran midfielder, who made just 21 starts across all competitions under managerial predecessor Louis van Gaal last season.
Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News mused that a move to Sunderland could work for all parties involved:
Meanwhile, another potential departure from United is youngster Blackett, who is understood to be in talks with Reading after being sighted at the Madejski Stadium for Saturday's 2-2 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion.
Charles Watts of Get Reading reported the 22-year-old is "desperate" to work alongside new Royals manager Jaap Stam, who is largely regarded as one of the best centre-backs in United's history.

Watts also provided quotes from the Royals boss after he was quizzed on the presence of Blackett, who spent the 2015-16 season on loan with Scottish Premiership winners Celtic:
"I don’t know. We’re still looking for a couple of signings.
I know Tyler, not personally, but I know what he can do—what type of player he is, the way he can play.
But I don’t know yet if it’s going to happen.
We’ve shown our interest but I don’t know if we will succeed getting him to the club.
"
The former Netherlands international was playful when asked further about Blackett's presence for the draw with Brighton, per Watts:
Blackett joined United's academy as a youth player in 2002 and has spent more than a decade developing at the club, making a total of 12 first-team appearances for the Red Devils.
The England under-21 international is reportedly seen as a left-back contender by Stam, although he's operated largely at centre-back during his time among United's senior squad.
