Bronze-Medal Matches

Women's

Great Britain's Bianca Walkden started the night off with a resounding 7-1 win over Morocco's Wiam Dislam.

A four-point first round gave Walkden a healthy advantage she was able to carry well into the third round.

An offensive kick to the head in the final two minutes sealed the match and the bronze.

In the second women's bronze-medal match, a defensive affair saw American Jackie Galloway edge France's Gwladys Epangue 2-1.

Galloway scored a point each via basic kicks to the Frenchwoman's chest protector in the first and third round, which was just enough to get to the podium.

Men's

Fighting in front of his home crowd, Brazil's Maicon Siqueira reeled off a comeback to win silver in a 5-4 decision over Great Britain's Mahama Cho.

Cho held a 3-1 lead heading into the final round before Siqueira fought back for four points and the victory.

He was able to work the body, getting all four of his points on kicks to Cho's chest.

In another low-scoring match, South Korea's Dongmin Cha delivered a fourth-round offensive kick to the chest of Uzbekistan's Dmitriy Shokin to win the bronze via golden point 4-3.

Cha was shut out for the final two rounds after posting three offensive one-point kicks and building a 3-0 lead.

But Shokin was able to fight back with two points in the second and one in the third to force an extra round.

Gold-Medal Matches

Women's

Shuyin Zheng of China used a third-round push to clinch gold 5-1 over Mexico's Maria del Rosario Espinoza.

With Zheng leading 1-0 after two rounds, she attained four points thanks to a pair of defensive kicks, one offensive kick and a Kyong-Go from Espinoza.

Thanks to a height advantage, Zheng was able to use her longer legs to create attacking chances, though a defensive Espinoza quelled most of the attacks.

But with Espinoza looking to create points, she left her defenses down in the third round allowing Zheng to pounce.

Men's

All Azerbaijan's Radik Isaev needed was a pair of kicks to the head of Niger's Abdoulrazak Issoufou Alfaga to clinch the gold medal in a 6-2 victory.

Getting one in the second round and the other in the third, he broke open a tentative match that was scoreless after the opening two minutes.

Alfaga was frustrated by Isaev's defenses as he was able to grab a pair of consolation points in the final seconds of the match, but there was just no way he could find a way through to the pads.
