Olympic Track and Field 2016: Live Results and Highlights from Aug. 20
The athletics team from the United States picked up three gold medals and a silver on the final night of track and field competition of the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio.
Matt Centrowitz started off the evening with a bang when he earned Team USA's first gold medal in 108 years in the men's 1,500-meter final. Paul Chelimo followed up with a personal best to take silver in the men's 5,000 meters, then both the men's and women's 4x400-meter relay teams re-asserted themselves as the best in the world, with gold medal wins.
Saturday's medals included a record-setting sixth gold for Allyson Felix, who anchored the women's relay, and brought the U.S. total to 31 in track and field. That's the best showing for an American squad since 1952 and 1956 according to Olympic historian Bill Mallon.
