Barcelona Transfer News: Jasper Cillessen Targeted Amid Claudio Bravo Rumours
Barcelona have reportedly made a £10 million bid for Ajax goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen as they look to bring in a replacement for current No. 1 Claudio Bravo, who is set to join Manchester City.
According to MailOnline's Simon Jones, a deal between City and Barca has been agreed and Bravo, 33, has told his team-mates he is moving to the Etihad Stadium, so the Blaugrana have moved for Dutchman Cillessen, 27, to ensure they are not left short between the posts.
Jones added that talks with Valencia for initial goalkeeping target Diego Alves, who is also considering a move to Sevilla, had stalled.

Cillessen would most likely play second fiddle to Marc-Andre ter Stegen if he does move to Barca—as Alves was expected to, per Luis F. Rojo of Marca—with the 24-year-old German having spent the last two seasons as the Blaugrana's cup goalkeeper.
However, given that the Netherlands international still has two years left on his contract with Ajax, Barcelona are likely going to have to increase their £10 million bid to sign him, per Eredivisie writer Peter McVitie:
Though he does occasionally make crucial errors, Cillessen is an experienced stopper and has spent the last three seasons as Ajax's No. 1.
Statistically over that period he has also been the best goalkeeper in the Dutch top flight, per WhoScored.com and Opta:
Cillessen would be a fine addition to the Barca squad to provide competition and cover for Ter Stegen, especially if he can iron out the mistakes from his game.
However, he will need to be convinced that he will be given enough game time by manager Luis Enrique.
In the last two seasons at Barca, Bravo has been the No. 1 in La Liga, while Ter Stegen has played in the UEFA Champions League and Copa del Rey.
If he moved to Barca, Cillessen would likely take up the Germany international's previous role, with Ter Stegen becoming the league goalkeeper.
Given that Barca invariably go deep in every competition they play in, Cillessen would have plenty of playing opportunities even without league action, but he may be put off by the prospect of not playing every week at the Camp Nou.
