Little League World Series 2016: Friday Schedule, TV Info and Bracket Prediction

Steve SilvermanAug 19, 2016

The first day of competition in the 2016 Little League World Series ended in dramatic fashion, as Robert Carroll belted a two-out, two-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning to lead Goodlettsville, Tennessee (Southeast) to a 3-2 victory over Bend, Oregon (Northwest).

Oregon starting pitcher Zack Reynolds carried a 2-1 lead into the bottom of the sixth inning, but he was forced out of the game due to a pitch limit with one out in the inning. Bowen Nelson came in and struck out the first hitter that he faced before giving up the game-winning hit to Carroll.

The second day of competition will see the Vancouver, British Columbia, team take on Tokyo, Japan, at 2 p.m. ET, and the Caribbean's Curacao will take on Seoul, South Korea, the Asia-Pacific representative. Those two international games will take place at Volunteer Stadium.

All four games Friday will be televised by ESPN.

In addition to the exciting finish in Goodlettsville's victory, Mid-Atlantic champion Endwell, New York, defeated New England representative Warwick, Rhode Island, by a 7-2 margin.

Latin American champion Aguadulce, Panama, pounded Mexico's Monterrey representative 10-2. Australian titlist Sydney defeated Europe-Africa representative Italy by a 3-1 score.
