Olympic Track and Field 2016: Live Results and Highlights from Aug. 17
With some of the biggest stars in athletics on display, the Wednesday evening session at the 2016 Rio Olympics was an absolute show.
Usain Bolt (Jamaica) strolled to a victory in his 200-meter semifinal heat, continuing his quest for career gold No. 8. Justin Gatlin (United States) failed to reach the final, but LeShawn Merritt qualified.
Meanwhile, the USA's Ashton Eaton won his 400-meter heat and leads after the first day of the decathlon.

In the women's long jump, American teammates Tianna Bartoletta and Brittney Reese claimed gold and silver, respectively. Jamaica's Elaine Thompson earned a gold in the 200-meter run, edging out Dafne Schippers (Netherlands) and Tori Bowie (United States).
The women's 100-meter hurdles final completed the night, and the United States swept the podium. Brianna Rollins, Nia Ali and Kristi Castlin finished in that order.
