Predictions

Men's Soccer Gold Medal Match: Germany vs. Brazil

With Brazil on the cusp of a first Olympic gold medal in soccer, the tournament host has an opportunity to exorcise some demons when it meets Germany on Saturday.

Just two years ago in the 2014 World Cup, Brazil's squad was embarrassed in the semifinals on home soil by the Germans, succumbing to a 7-1 defeat after the squad lost Neymar in the quarterfinals against Colombia to injury.

While the under-23 Olympic rosters are almost completely different from the World Cup lineups, Neymar is the most familiar face to take the pitch at Maracana Stadium.

He and his team have been impressive over the past two weeks, especially in the semifinals against Honduras in a resounding 6-0 victory:

But it will be playing a Germany team that has been the class of the Olympics, leading the tournament with 21 goals scored. Serge Gnabry has been just as impressive, leading the race for the golden boot with six of his own.

If Brazil's defense stays semi-resolute, it should have enough from the home crowd to fuel them to a victory.

Prediction: Brazil defeats Germany for gold medal 3-2

Women's Basketball Gold Medal Match: United States vs. Spain

The only way the United States will be denied the gold medal is if another United States team were to take the floor against it on Saturday.

The Americans are 7-0 and have scored over 100 points in five of those games, beating their opponents by an average score of 102-64.

Four of their players are averaging double-digits in points, and the team is shooting 57 percent from the field and 43.1 percent from three-point range.

On the glass, the U.S. is just as ruthless, as it has outrebounded its opponents by an average of 44.4-27.1.

Don't expect Spain to mount much of a challenge on Saturday as the U.S. should win its sixth-straight gold medal.

Prediction: United States defeats Spain for gold medal 89-65
