Olympic Track & Field 2016: Live Results and Highlights from August 15
A day after Usain Bolt made headlines at the 2016 Summer Olympics, the track and field competition in Rio once again lived up to the hype.
Allyson Felix was going for her fifth career Olympic gold but was narrowly defeated by a diving Shaunae Miller of Barbados, whose torso crossed the line 0.07 seconds before Felix in the 400-meter final. On the other hand, the silver medal gave Felix the most track and field medals by an American woman in Olympic history.
David Rudisha of Kenya was able to defend his gold medal in the men's 800-meter final, cementing himself as one of the top mid-distance runners of all time.
Finally, Brazil's Thiago Braz Da Silva thrilled the hometown fans with his record-breaking win in the pole vault. Defending champion Renaud Lavillenie broke his own Olympic record at 5.98 meters, but Da Silva went even higher by setting a new mark at 6.03 meters en route to a gold medal.
The drama was great throughout the night and won't be easy to top as the week continues from Olympic Stadium.
