'Hard Knocks': Rams Cut WR Deon Long for Having a Woman in His Dorm
On July 31, the Los Angeles Rams cut ties with wide receiver Deon Long.
While that transaction may not have grabbed headlines initially, Tuesday’s episode of HBO’s Hard Knocks brought the release front and center—because of the reason behind the move, per Zac Jackson of Pro Football Talk.
It turns out the Rams have a rule against players bringing visitors back to their dorm rooms while at training camp. Long made the mistake of doing exactly that—although he said the woman wouldn't be staying—and got caught.
As a result, he is a former Ram. Rules are rules.
Fisher later elaborated on his decision while talking to his players, per Jackson: "I’m not f-----g going 7-9 or 8-8 or 9-7…we have too much talent here for that. We had some 7-9 b------t this morning, and we can’t have that. Deon is gone. That is 7-9 b------t, and we don’t need it."
