WWE SmackDown: Burning Questions to Address After August 9 Show

Ever since the brands split and SmackDown became its own entity, the quality of the show has been a bit of a mixed bag, to put it nicely.

With only two titles currently held by members of the roster, management has been trying to come up with different storylines to keep people busy.

Some of the feuds are fine, but there are a few that have left fans scratching their heads.

Questionable moments filled this week's SmackDown, but among them, a few highlights stood out as memorable.

Let's go through some of the questions we were left with after Tuesday's show.

How Long Can Eva Marie Put Off Her Debut?

Eva Marie has always received nuclear heat from the WWE Universe, and her newest storyline isn't likely to change that any time soon.

After faking an ankle injury to get out of her debut on the Aug. 2 SmackDown, this week saw the red-hair bombshell have a conveniently timed wardrobe malfunction.

Is all this a ruse to make Becky Lynch angry enough to lose her cool, or is it some kind of tactic to prevent Eva Marie from having to actually wrestle?

Whatever the case may be, this can only go on for so long. Eventually, she is going to have to wrestle, and when she does, the fans will see if all her training with Brian Kendrick and the NXT coaches has done any good.

Where Is WWE Going with Heath Slater's Storyline?

Heath Slater was the only Superstar who neither brand drafted a few weeks ago, so he has been appearing on both Raw and SmackDown in an attempt to be signed by one of the brands.

Unfortunately for The One-Man Band, none of his attempts have been successful. Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon were about to offer him on a contract on Tuesday's SmackDown, but his temper cost him the deal.

Slater has always been a B-level player in WWE, but this storyline is the most attention he has been given in a long time, and it could lead to something better down the line.

WWE wouldn't give him so much screen time if there wasn't a grander plan in the works. Then again, WWE does a lot of things that don't make sense, and this might be one of them.

Slater is an entertaining character who has never been used to his fullest potential. Hopefully WWE finds a way to pay him back for his years of hard work putting other people over.

What's with All the Jobbers?

WWE has been using more enhancement talents recently, and whether you like it or not, jobbers look like they are here to stay.

Back in the '80s and '90s, WWE used jobbers frequently to get people over before they moved on to bigger and better things. It was an effective way to make someone look good, but times have changed.

WWE fans know how things work now. If someone who has never appeared on WWE television shows up to face a new talent, we all know they are going to lose in decisive fashion.

Braun Strowman, Nia Jax and American Alpha have earned easy wins over these kinds of wrestlers over the past few weeks. You can decide if these meaningless victories make them look better or if they are wastes of time.

When Will SmackDown Introduce New Titles?

When the tag team and women's titles ended up on Raw, many wondered why WWE would put any tag teams or women on the SmackDown roster at all.

Daniel Bryan has talked about introducing new championships to fill the void during the SmackDown post-show for the past two weeks, but there has been no indication of when we will actually see these changes happen.

WWE is too close to SummerSlam to plan anything for the pay-per-view, so we have to assume the process of picking new champions won't begin until after Aug. 21.

At this point, all we can do is wait and hope WWE doesn't replicate the bronze design of the current tag titles for the new version SmackDown will be using.
