Ronaldo has not been in action since the final of the UEFA European Championship, when he led his side out against France. The 31-year-old picked up an knee injury that forced him off early, although the Selecao went on to secure a memorable 1-0 triumph in extra time, winning their maiden major title.
Indeed, 2016 has been a memorable year for Ronaldo so far, as he also netted the winning penalty in the team’s shootout victory over Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final. He’ll be hoping for more glory in the upcoming season, in which the ex-Manchester United man is expected to clinch the FIFA Ballon d’Or gong.
It certainly looks like Ronaldo will be ready for Real’s opening game of the La Liga season; they face Real Sociedad at the Anoeta on August 21.
