Arsenal Transfer News: Latest on Isco and Mathieu Debuchy Rumours

Christopher SimpsonAug 8, 2016

Isco's agent has said the Spaniard will not be leaving Real Madrid, despite reports Los Blancos have put him up for sale.

According to Italian website Tuttomercatoweb.com (h/t Joe Short of the Express), Paco Alarcon, Isco's father and agent, said: "So many rumours have come out in the last few weeks, but we’re not interested. At the moment we won’t consider any offers, whether that’s from Milan or any other club. Isco wants to continue his adventure with Real Madrid and hopes to renew his contract, which expires in 2018."

Sergio Santos Chozas of AS had reported the Spanish side were willing to sell the playmaker in order to bring in further recruits this summer, with Short adding that Arsenal are among the sides interested in his capture.

The 24-year-old did not have his best season in a Real shirt last year and while he featured regularly, he started just 21 La Liga matches and completed 90 minutes on only eight of those occasions.

Nevertheless, the talented Spaniard managed to rack up five goals and 12 assists in all competitions, and he remained an effective creator, per WhoScored.com:

Sky Sports' Kaveh Solhekol and the Mirror's Ed Malyon would welcome Isco to the English top flight:

Arsenal already have an abundance of creative talent in midfield and therefore have little immediate need for Isco—not compared with their need for a striker and a centre-back—but he could make an excellent long-term replacement for Santi Cazorla, who turns 32 in December.

However, it seems the midfielder is determined to make it at the Santiago Bernabeu, so for the time being at least, the Gunners will need to look elsewhere.

Meanwhile, West Ham United have reportedly joined Galatasaray in the hunt for Mathieu Debuchy, but the Frenchman is "unlikely to make any move away from Arsenal until their defensive crisis eases," wrote the Daily Star's Rhys Turrell.

According to Turkish outlet Fanatik (h/t Turrell), the Irons' entrance into the fray has caused his move to Galatasaray to stall, but with Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista injured and Laurent Koscielny lacking fitness, there is very little defensive cover at the Emirates Stadium.

The Frenchman looked to be a shrewd purchase when Arsenal snapped him up from Newcastle United in 2014, but he has endured a torrid time with injury and joined Bordeaux on loan in January.

Per Arsenal blogger Jeorge Bird, the 31-year-old may still not be ready to resume first-team duties for the Gunners:

There looks to be little future for the right-back at Arsenal now, and a move away could help reignite his career.

Arsenal's fitness issues at the back could delay him leaving, but if they are able to recruit another defender this summer, it seems likely he'll be shown the exit door.
