
Olympic Gymnastics 2016: Results and Highlights from Women's Qualifying
The United States women's gymnastics team started their quest for team gold with a dominant performance in all four events of their qualification session on Sunday.
The Americans earned a team score of 185.238 to enter the team final in first place. The scores will be wiped clean for Tuesday's team final, but the Americans are expected to win gold.
On the individual level, Simone Biles qualified first in the all-around competition and topped the charts in the floor exercise, vault and balance beam.
Aly Raisman edged out defending all-around gold medalist Gabby Douglas to earn the second of two United States spots in the all-around competition. Raisman's score was 60.607, while Douglas had a score of 60.131.
Biles will compete in every final except for the uneven bars, while Raisman will participate in the floor exercise in addition to the all-around.
Douglas and Madison Kocian will represent the United States in the uneven bars and Laurie Hernandez will lead the red, white and blue in the balance beam.
