Olympic Medals 2016: Tracking Winners and Final Tally for Sunday Results
China claimed its first gold at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro when Zhang Mengxue won the women's 10-meter air pistol shooting event. It was also the first gold on the second day of the Games.
Medals will be up for grabs in cycling, diving, judo, archery and fencing as the day progresses.
Here's the overall medal tally for the games so far:
Recap
Zhang shot a 199.4 to take the gold, setting an Olympic record (per Reuters) in the process. Zhang had been pushed to that mark by a plucky display from 19-year-old Russian Vitalina Batsarashkina, who shot a 197.1. Batsarashkina's efforts forced Greece's Anna Korakaki to settle for bronze.
Meanwhile, Zhang was visibly delighted with her success, according to this image relayed by the ISSF:

She also marked a nice personal moment by collecting gold, per Rio 2016:
Things were close heading into the final round, as Batsarashkina applied the pressure on Zhang. However, the latter shot a 9.5 in the round to keep her Russian opponent at bay and secure the gold.
Zhang's win has China on the board in terms of gold medals, but the nation still has some way to go to reach the top of the medal standings.

Later, the women's cycling road race will feature prominent team British riders Emma Pooley and Lizzie Armitstead. They'll both try to navigate a tough course featuring more than one daunting climb.
Meanwhile, the women's 52-kilogram judo event has reached its semi-final stage ahead of the men's 66-kilogram event. The latter event has already seen a major upset when Zambia's Mathews Punza pinned Israel judoka Golan Pollack.
It was a remarkable achievement for the 112th-ranked judoka in the world against the sixth seed, according to NBCOlympics.com. So the field is a little more open with one obvious contender gone ahead of the quarterfinals.
