Olympic Swimming 2016: Live Results and Highlights from Saturday's Day 1
The United States captured three silver medals in the first four swimming finals held at the Olympic Aquatics Stadium on Saturday.
Day 1 of the 2016 Summer Olympics was a success but not a triumph for Team USA in the pool.
Chase Kalisz captured the first silver in the men's 4x100 meter individual medley, but his finish marked the first time in 20 years that the U.S. had not won gold in the event.
Later, Madi DiRado finished a solid second behind a world-record swim from the Iron Lady Katinka Hosszu of Hungary in the women's 4x100 meter individual medley, then the U.S women's team took silver behind the Australians in the 4x100 meter freestyle relay.
There will be lots more action to come from the pool in the ensuing days, including swims by the great Michael Phelps.
