Jean Segura Charged with Error for Tossing Brewers Rookie's 1st Hit to Dugout
All Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Jean Segura was trying to do was be a nice guy to a player on his previous team, the Milwaukee Brewers.
As a result, he wound up giving the opponent a couple of free bases.
In the top of the fourth inning of Friday's game, rookie Brewers shortstop Orlando Arcia notched the first hit of his big league career with an RBI single to right field. When Segura hauled in the ball from teammate David Peralta, he tossed it to the Milwaukee dugout so Arcia could have a permanent reminder of the moment.

Standard protocol, right? Well, Segura jumped the gun—he never called time before throwing the ball out of play, which resulted in a two-base error.
Fortunately for starter Braden Shipley and the Diamondbacks, the Brewers were at the bottom of their lineup. The right-hander intentionally walked No. 8 hitter Martin Maldonado to get to pitcher Chase Anderson, who struck out to end the inning—and strand Arcia at third.
