Olympic Opening Ceremony 2016: Reaction, Highlights and Recap from Rio

The 2016 Summer Olympics officially began on Friday inside the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. 

Former Brazilian marathon runner Vanderlei Cordeiro de Lima lit the Olympic flame after a torch relay that featured former tennis star Gustavo Kuerten and basketball great Hortencia Marcari. 

Full competition at the Rio Games begins on Saturday with gold medals handed out in archery, cycling, fencing, judo shooting, swimming and weightlifting.
