Olympic 2016 Medal Count: Live Updating Tally Tracker and Country Standings

With the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro officially underway following the opening ceremony, the medals are being handed out at a fast and furious pace.

Hundreds of medals in total will be awarded between now and the completion of the Rio Games on Aug. 21, and while many of them will be in conjunction with individual competitions, there is an even greater team aspect at work.

Every country involved will be working toward finishing atop the medal standings with Team USA looking to defend its crown from four years ago in London.
