Quartney Davis Injury: Updates on Texas A&M WR's Recovery from ACL Surgery

Davis Out for Season

According to Brent Zwerneman of the Houston Chronicle, Aggies head coach Kevin Sumlin said Davis will be out for the year following surgery to repair a torn ACL.

Sumlin told reporters the wideout suffered the injury working out off campus.


Davis Promising Talent for Aggies

Davis was part of Texas A&M's 2016 recruiting class. He was a highly regarded high school talent who was ranked as a 4-star prospect and the No. 24 wide receiver, according to 247Sports' composite rankings.

While there are no positives to take away from an injury, Davis was not certain to get much playing time this year anyway. He does have good size at 6'2 ½" and 181 pounds, per 247Sports, but the Aggies have a deep stable of veteran wideouts this season, including Speedy Noil, Ricky Seals-Jones, Christian Kirk and Josh Reynolds.

The Aggies do need all the help on offense they can find after quarterbacks Kyle Allen and Kyler Murray transferred. They did land former Oklahoma quarterback Trevor Knight to soften the blow.

Davis arrived on campus in College Station with a lot of hype. This injury will delay his debut by one year; hopefully, his surgery and recovery go smoothly so that he can get back on the field in 2017.
