WWE SmackDown: Live Results, Reaction and Analysis for August 2

Welcome to Bleacher Report's live coverage of the August 2 episode of SmackDown.

WWE has managed to produce two great episodes of Raw in a row following the brand extension, so SmackDown has some catching up to do.

We already know Dolph Ziggler will be challenging Dean Ambrose for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam, but the blue brand doesn't have anything else lined up for the biggest pay-per-view of the summer.

The Miz is the only other champion on the SmackDown roster, so it's safe to assume he will be defending his title at SummerSlam. Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon have a lot of work to do if they hope to combat the matches Raw has lined up for the event so far.

Can SmackDown stay competitive with only two singles titles?

Will Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon create a tag team or women's championship for their show?

How will the recent NXT call-ups fit in with the rest of the roster?

Will Heath Slater make another appearance in an attempt to be signed by SmackDown?

And lastly, who will face Chad Gable and Jason Jordan in their first match on the main roster?
