Liverpool Transfer News: Latest on Mattia De Sciglio and Ludovic Blas Rumours

AC Milan full-back Mattia De Sciglio has rejected a move to Liverpool, per Calciomercato.com (h/t Alex Harris of the Daily Star).

According to the report, the Italy international has also snubbed an offer from Serie A outfit Napoli, who have received a significant windfall recently following the £75.3 million sale of Gonzalo Higuain, per Guardian sport and Reuters.

According to Calciomercato, the 23-year-old, who can play on either flank of a back four, would only be willing to ditch the San Siro club should reigning Italian champions Juventus show an interest.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been eager to enhance his defensive options in the close season, recruiting Joel Matip from Schalke and Ragnar Klavan from fellow German outfit Augsburg.  

He previously offered his opinion on Liverpool's transfer structure, per Squawka:

Per the Premier League's official site, the Reds conceded 50 league goals during the 2015-16 campaign—the Merseysiders finished eighth behind Southampton and West Ham United—and failed to qualify for European football in the process.

De Sciglio would have provided the former Borussia Dortmund coach with much-needed versatility due to his discipline and defensive obedience, which allow the Rossoneri youth product to feature on either side of defence. 

Per James Pearce of the Daily Mirror, Klopp has been on the lookout for a new full-back during the summer transfer window in a bid to create competition for Alberto Moreno, who has failed to convince his boss.

The Spaniard fell out of favour with Liverpool fans following a dismal showing in the UEFA Europa League final last term against former club Sevilla. Indeed, Klopp elected to choose versatile midfielder James Milner in the left-back position for the club's pre-season friendly with Milan on Sunday.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Mark Critchley of the Independent), Liverpool tabled a £16 million offer for the defender, since Jon Flanagan's loan exit to Burnley left Moreno as the only natural left-back at Anfield.

Elsewhere, the club are hoping to recruit Guingamp starlet Ludovic Blas, per L'Equipe (h/t Uche Amako of the Express).

The 18-year-old central midfielder made 16 appearances in all competitions during the 2015-16 season for the Brittany outfit, scoring once and providing two assists, per WhoScored.com.

The youngster, who also featured on the right wing for the Ligue 1 club, played a starring role for France during the recent UEFA Under-19 European Championship, helping Les Bleus to romp to the title.

According to L'Equipe, Liverpool face competition for his signature from a cluster of Europe's elite, including Inter Milan and Lyon, with the playmaker's contract still having two years to run.
