Shane Carwin Urges "Bring Your Child to Work"

Something deep within me loves an apt, memorable slogan, quote or adage.
"Iron sharpens iron," "still waters run deep," and "experience keeps a dear school, but a fool will learn in no other," are some I find to be true and have used in my writing. There are so many others that I love, also many lines from poetry or songs; it can be hard to choose one that is appropriate for what I am trying to get across to my readers at times.
Recently I have read a lot of articles about the future fight between the Heavyweights, Shane Carwin and Brock Lesnar, which is on the UFC 106 card. Many fans are as excited as I am that these two fighters will be meeting in the cage to determine who is to be the champion.
It is no secret to my friends, fans and critics, that I dislike Brock Lesnar. My loathing almost took a vacation when I learned he had become the doting father of a newborn son, but was quickly rekindled after the fireworks following his win at UFC 100.
I was compelled to watch the UFC 100 show due to GSP fighting Thiago Alves. Georges is my ultimate favorite UFC star so I would never miss one of his fights. Being a very curious MMA fan as well, I naturally viewed the Mir vs Lesnar match as well. It did not thrill me because my good friend Stoker was hoping Mir would win, which naturally made me side with him.
My cheering for Mir obviously did not help, as Lesnar quickly and completely flattened Mir, then stood over him looking every bit the angry gargoyle, yelling to the point of actually frothing at the mouth, spitting on fans close to the cage.
Good sportsmanship has always meant much more to me than winning has. Still, I have always preached that anyone lucky or talented enough to win, should win gracefully, never boasting or taunting the loser. That is what I firmly believe, so I have passed it on to my sons and grandchildren too. Fortunately, they have yet to disappoint me.
With interest I read Shane Carwin's reaction to Brock's buffoonery, finding an alliance who agreed completely with my impressions of Lesnar, expressing himself very intelligently. Of course this caused Shane's stock to rise in my estimation; being one of his fans already didn't hurt either. Hearing they would be headlining an event has brought a lot of anticipation and excitement to my life.
Tonight, upon finding an unread interview on Carwin, I eagerly read how he was preparing for his fight against the big mouthed bully. I didn't expect to read anything new or surprising, since I have seen so many videos of the Heavyweights pulling cars, pounding huge tires with sledgehammers and all the usual superhuman-strenuous type stuff. What new technique could Shane have discovered?
What I didn't expect was Shane's statement that inspired me to write another article on the subject.
When asked how he was training to handle Brock, Shane remarked, "We are having a bring your child to the gym program to learn how to handle childish temper tantrums and irrational thinking."
As a former school teacher and adolescent psych nurse, I couldn't have said it better!
War Shane!!!
