Chelsea have started slowly under their new coach, as Conte gets to grips with making the Blues a force once again.

The Stamford Bridge outfit surrendered their Premier League crown with a whimper last term, earning ex-coach Jose Mourinho the sack from west London.

Conte watched on as his team lost three goals in succession against Real in Michigan on Saturday night, but he will be impressed with the fitness and motivation of Hazard, who grabbed two late consolation efforts.

The Belgium superstar was a major reason for Chelsea's failures last term, completely losing form after his player of the season performance 12 months before.

Hazard appeared more like his natural self against Madrid as he twice rounded the goalkeeper to produce two sweet finishes, with the delight clearly written across his face.

Real boss Zinedine Zidane was openly impressed by the attacking midfielder, who has been repeatedly linked with a move to the Spanish capital, according to Tom Doyle of the London Evening Standard.

Zidane said: "He [Hazard] is a very, very good player. Obviously all clubs want the best players, but he is a Chelsea player."

Hazard came on as a second-half substitute against Real but produced glimpses of the form he attained at the end of the last campaign as he dramatically improved after Mourinho's exit.

Milan are miles away from their previous standards that saw them crowned kings of Europe, and it promises to be a difficult season for the San Siro club once more.

The Italians fear the potential transfer of Carlos Bacca away from the club as other sides circle around the Colombia international, per Ben Gladwell of ESPN FC.

As a result of the interest in the striker, Bacca was left at home before Milan arrived on American soil, further hampering their preparations.

However, Milan coach Vincenzo Montella told the club's official website (h/t Gladwell) he is pleased with how his squad are currently blending after the defeat to Liverpool:

We are doing well.

Liverpool started training before us. It was their sixth match, while we only played two before this one. We must keep that in mind when analysing the result.

I am very satisfied with what the boys are doing. If we want to reach a high level, we must keep working.

Conte has a complicated task at Chelsea as it is unclear whether the ownership will invest the finance comparable to Manchester City and Manchester United in order to win the Premier League.

The Italian is expected to make the Blues tougher to beat, but he must find flair from his ranks to battle for a Champions League place.

Hazard is the key for the London side; he almost single-handedly kept the Blues at the top of the league during their last championship success, and without significant investment, Chelsea need the Belgian to be at his very best through the next 12 months in a challenging football environment.
